The Summit School is constructing a new classroom building on its existing campus in Upper Nyack. Fourteen new classrooms, educational support facilities, and offices make up the program of this 19,000-square-foot facility. The building is sited to foster connections between existing campus buildings and to define a new academic quadrangle. The building employs a frankly modern architectural language, but engages its historic context through a careful manipulation of scale and of the use of a natural material palette.
